U.S. 276 East
U.S. 276 emerges from Caesars Head State Park and descends to Mountain Lake Colony and junction South Carolina 8 (Caesars Head Highway) in northern Greenville County. South Carolina 8 begins and ventures south from the federal highway a short distance before merging with South Carolina 11. South Carolina 11 continues southwest from South Carolina 8 to Table Rock. South Carolina 8 traffic leaves U.S. 276 east for the Pickens County line, Pumpkintown, and Pickens. All traffic bound for South Carolina 11 (Cherokee Foothills Scenic Highway) south should use South Carolina 8 to make the connection in lieu of U.S. 276 east. U.S. 276 turns southward 4.2 miles into the community of Marietta at junction South Carolina 288 (Pumpkintown Road). Pumpkintown Road stems west from U.S. 276 (Geer Highway) ten miles to junction South Carolina 8 at Pumpkintown. From there South Carolina 288 continues six miles to U.S. 178. Photo taken 07/23/04.
One quarter of a mile past the eastern terminus of South Carolina 288 is the east end of South Carolina 186 (Dacusville Road). South Carolina 186 ventures ten miles southwest from Marietta to Dacusville en route to South Carolina 135 (Dacusville Highway) and the west end at South Carolina 8 (Pumpkintown Highway). Originally U.S. 25 split between a Business and Bypass component through Greenville. U.S. 25 Bypass followed the current U.S. 25 mainline along Duncan and White Horse Roads. South Carolina 291 encircles the eastern reaches of the city as a five-lane surface arterial between U.S. 276 and U.S. 25 (White Horse Road). U.S. 276 enters the city of Greenville and becomes Rutherdford Street at Rutherford Road. From there the federal highway travels south to the intersection with Stone Avenue where it turns east. Stone Avenue carries U.S. 276 from Rutherford Street to junction U.S. 29 (Church Street) and Interstate 385 (Exit 42) where the route becomes Laurens Road. Photo taken 07/23/04.

The final two miles of U.S. 276 in the state of South Carolina follow a freeway between the city of Mauldin and the joint Interstate 185 & 385 interchange near Standing Springs Road. The limited access stretch is part of the original U.S. 276 alignment between Mauldin and Interstate 26 near Clinton. Displayed in this photograph is the U.S. 276 eastbound ramp onto Interstate 385 south. Roadwork is present relating to the construction of the tolled Southern Connector of Interstate 185. This extension of the Greenville west freeway spur links Interstate 185 with Interstate 385 and U.S. 276 at Exit 30. The new highway opened to traffic during Winter of 2001. Photo taken 12/08/99.
