U.S. Highway 192 East - Four Corners to Kissimmee

U.S. 192 east
U.S. 192 east & 441 south (13th Street) eastbound at junction Osceola County 532 (Vermont Avenue) near downtown St. Cloud. Vermont Avenue carries unsigned Osceola County 532 northward to Lakeshore Boulevard, an east-west segment of unsigned County 532. Southward, Vermont Avenue transitions into Canoe Creek Road through fast growing areas of south St. Cloud. Osceola County 532 shadows Florida's Turnpike southward all the way to junction U.S. 441 at Kenansville Photo taken 05/06/06.
Reassurance markers posted for U.S. 192 & 441 on 13th Street east. U.S. 192-441 carry six lanes through the busy commercial corridor of St. Cloud. Photo taken 05/06/06.
Heading through east St. Cloud, U.S. 192 & 441 merge with unsigned Florida 15 from Osceola County 15 (Narcoossee Road). Narcoossee Road carries the county version of 15 northward to Runnymeade, Narcoossee, and the Lake Nona area of southeast Orlando. Photos taken 05/06/06.
Much of Osceola and Orange County 15 is either under development or proposed for development. Annexations of Orlando to the county line and growth in unincorporated areas of Osceola County have transitioned the rural road into a commuting corridor. Expansion of the roadway to four lanes is a likelihood in the near future. Otherwise Hickory Tree Road stems south from the Osceola County 15 end to Osceola County 534. Photo taken 05/06/06.
The next community of significance is that of Holopaw (the split of U.S. 192 east from U.S. 441 south) east of St. Cloud, however sprawl is underway at the New Harmony community near junction Osceola County 534. Photo taken 05/06/06.
U.S. 192 east & 441 southbound shields posted after Osceola County 15. Florida 15 & 500 travel in hidden fashion with the tandem to Holopaw Florida 15 continues from there southward to Lake Okeechobee. Photo taken 05/06/06.
Approaching Osceola County 532 (Nova Road) on U.S. 192 east & 441 south. Nova Road carries the county road 26.5 miles east to junction Florida 520 in extreme southeast Orange County. Nova Road provides a fast and lonely route to Cocoa and Florida's Space Coast. Photo taken 05/06/06.

Eastbound at the beginning of Nova Road (Osceola County 532). Nova Road curves northeast to the rural communities of Pine Grove and New Eden before exiting the area on a causeway-type road across the swamplands of northeast Osceola County. Photo taken 05/06/06.
U.S. 192 & 441 reduce from four to two lanes east of Osceola County 532, but construction is underway to widen the last two-lane stretch of U.S. 192 as of 2008. The federal highways exit St. Cloud ahead of the southward turn between Lake Lizzie and Alligator Lake. Photo taken 05/06/06.
Nearing the intersection with Old Melbourne Highway on U.S. 192 east & 441 south. Old Melbourne Highway loops east to Lake Conlin and south to Cat Lake before prematurely ending. Osceola County 500A (unsigned) travels the westernmost 4.309 miles to the former Mercury Marine Lake X Test site and Lake X Airport (a private airstrip). Lake X is the informal name given to Lake Conlin by Mercury Marine, a company that used to test speed boats on the lake until recent years when it relocated to a new site. Photo taken 05/06/06.
Traffic lights installed at the intersection of U.S. 192 east & 441 south with Arthur J. Gallagher Boulevard, the entrance road to Harmony High School. At the time of this photograph, U.S. 192-441 were only four-laned within the vicinity of new Harmony. Expansion occurred in conjunction with the building of the adjacent community, complete with a pedestrian underpass east of Gallagher Boulevard (pictured here). Photo taken 05/06/06.
A look at U.S. 192-441 widening along the stretch east of Harmony and west of Holopaw. Much of this area is wetlands associated with Jug Creek and Big Bend Swamps. Photo taken 05/06/06.
Entering the settlement of Holopaw, the last population center of Osceola County, along U.S. 192 east. Photo taken 05/06/06.
Holopaw represents the partition of U.S. 441 south from U.S. 192 east. U.S. 192 continues eastward toward Melbourne while U.S. 441 turns due south for Yeehaw Junction. Photo taken 05/06/06.
A look at then two-lane U.S. 192 east & 441 south at their split in Holopaw. U.S. 441 south travels Kenansville Road along a rural drive to Kenansville and Yeehaw Junction. Four-lane U.S. 192 continues through swampy east Osceola County to Brevard County. Photo taken 05/06/06.
U.S. 192 travels solo for the remainder of the 33-mile drive between Holopaw and Indialantic. Photo taken 05/06/06.
Before exiting Osceola County, U.S. 192 meets Osceola County 419 (Deer Park Road) at the settlement of Deer Park. County 419 travels north from U.S. 192 through undeveloped Osceola County. Photo taken 05/06/06.

Four lanes of U.S. 192 travel less than three miles to the Brevard County line. Photo taken 05/06/06.

All of U.S. 192 remains undeveloped between the Osceola County line and junction Interstate 95. Much of the land consists of swamps associated with Sawgrass Lake. Photo taken 05/06/06.
A diamond interchange (Exit 180) joins U.S. 192 (New Haven Avenue) wit Interstate 95 on the west end of Melbourne. Interstate 95 generally follows the boundary between urban coastal cities and rural wetlands through the Space Coast area. Melbourne is no exception but Viera (to the north) and Palm Bay (to the south), have pushed development west of the freeway. Photo taken 05/06/06.
180 miles separate U.S. 192 east from downtown Miami and Interstate 95's southern terminus. Photo taken 05/06/06.
Interstate 95 continues north 170 miles to Jacksonville from Melbourne. Photo taken 05/06/06.
Continuing east, U.S. 192 follows a commercial arterial (New Haven Avenue) four miles east from Interstate 95 to downtown Melbourne. Indialantic, a barrier island community, lies at the east end of intrastate U.S. 192. Photo taken 05/06/06.
Next in line for U.S. 192 (New Haven Avenue) east is the south end of Brevard County 511 (John Rodes Boulevard). Brevard County 511 heads four miles north to Aurora Road and four miles east to U.S. 1 at Eau Gallie. Photo taken 05/06/06.
