U.S. 84 enters the city of Bainbridge on the approach to junction U.S. 27 (Colquitt Highway) and Georgia 253 Spur (Airport Road). Home to 11,722 as of the 2000 census, Bainbridge was named for the commander of the U.S. Constitution, "Old Ironsides" Commodore William Bainbridge and incorporated on December 22, 1829.1 The city lies along the Flint River north of Lake Seminole.
