U.S. 276 eastbound travels 11 miles to Cedar Mountain and 16 miles to Caesars Head, South Carolina. At this point U.S. 64 westbound enters the Benson Beltline (Interstate 440 south) for a freeway overlap around the capital city. A closer look at the Interstate 440 sign bridge of U.S. 64 westbound on New Bern Avenue. A bypass of the community of Knightdale is under construction presently. This limited access highway will link the existing U.S. 64 freeway to the east with Interstate 440 upon completion. Cold wintry day at the Croatan Sound bridge spanning between Manns Harbor and Manteo on Roanoke Island. This two lane span now carries Business U.S. 64 with the August 2002 opening of a new four-lane span for mainline U.S. 64 to the south.
