U.S. 27 and Florida 25 begin their northerly journey in Miami, in the shadow of the Interstate 195 and U.S. 1 (Florida 5/Biscayne Boulevard) interchange. U.S. 27 begins at U.S. 1 at the intersection of Allapattah Boulevard and Biscayne Boulevard, heading west into Hialeah and then northwest to meet Interstate 75 near the site of Andytown, the eastern terminus of the Alligator Alley toll road. U.S. 27 meets Interstate 75 at a massive stack interchange that can be visible from miles away on Interstate 75 eastbound as it crosses the Everglades on the Alligator Alley. Note the use of an Alligator Alley trailblazer here, which is one of a few that remain. Photo taken 12/27/03.
A single exit from U.S. 27 north provides the connection to Interstate 75 north (west) to Naples via the toll Alligator Alley and south (east) to Fort Lauderdale (via Interstate 595 or Florida 84). Photo taken 12/27/03.
