| The southern approach to the U.S. 11 Lake Pontchartrain Bridge at Irish Bayou. This two lane bridge was recently closed for construction in 2001. The span features a drawbridge midway between Irish Bayou and North Shore. Interstate 10 is situated close to the south. Photo taken 11/12/99.

| Located north of downtown Slidell, is this intersection with
U.S. 190 (Gause Boulevard) on U.S. 11 northbound (Front Street). The intersection bustles with traffic
as the area is inundated with commercial development. Less than one mile to the south is Business U.S. 190
(Fremaux Avenue), the original U.S. 190 in Slidell. As the Interstate shields imply, U.S. 190 intersects
Interstate 10 at Exit 266 and Interstate 12 intersects U.S. 11 at Exit 83. Photo taken 11/06/99.

| Interstate 12 Louisiana shield on U.S. 11 southbound
approaching the cloverleaf ramp for eastbound. A guide sign now attaches itself to the overpass in the background
for the Interstate 12 eastbound ramp. With the inclusion of that guide sign, this shield was deemed
unnecessary, and has since been removed. Photo taken 11/06/99.

| Scenes Related to U.S. 11

| The southern terminus of U.S. 11 at U.S. 90 within the city
limits of New Orleans and the Bayou Sauvage National Wildlife Refuge. There is no end sign with the route
terminating at a stop sign. Shrouded by the shadows and vegetation are U.S. 90 shields and a guide sign.
Originally the highway turned right onto U.S. 90 and
overlapped with the route into downtown. The highway was truncated in the 1950s to this swampy locale.
Although within the refuge, a few industrial business can be found nearby on U.S. 90. Photo taken 11/06/99.

| Fisherman's Castle, located on U.S. 11 along the east shore of Lake Pontchartrain at Irish Bayou. This dwelling gives new meaning to the old adage of a "man's home is a man's castle". This is one of several cottages along the U.S. 11 waterfront between Interstate 10 and the southern terminus. Although this particular home is the only of its kind. Photo taken 11/06/99.
