Constructed in the early 1990s, the formerly Southwest Parkway, constitutes a full freeway between Interstate 516 & Georgia 21 (Lynes Parkway) and Georgia 204 (Abercorn Street Extension) at Southside Savannah. The four-lane freeway allows Interstate 95 traffic a more direct connection to Savannah from the southwest at Richmond Hill. A trumpet interchange facilitates the movements between the Veterans Parkway and Interstate 516 & Georgia 21. The Veterans Parkway includes an interchange with Chatham Parkway midway between its ends at the Lynes Parkway and Georgia 204. The traffic light at the south end was upgraded to a full interchange in the late 1990s.
