Interstate 95 connects the eastern shore of Florida, linking Jacksonville in the north with Miami in the south, with St. Augustine, Daytona Beach, the Space Coast near Titusville, Melbourne, Fort Pierce, West Palm Beach, and Fort Lauderdale along the way. Travelers may opt for the slower and more scenic U.S. 1 or Florida A1A for the entire route between Jacksonville and Miami, although there are route breaks in Florida A1A in certain areas.

A close-up of the Interstate 95 shield reveals that it is one of the few that has the state name in it. Most Interstate shields in Florida are neutered; that is, they do not contain the state name.
