Lee Avenue from Middleburg passes over Interstate 85 one mile northeast of the Exit 220 folded-diamond interchange with Fleming Road. Fleming Road spurs north from U.S. 1 & 158 toward Kerr Lake while the federal highway pair kiss the northbound side of the freeway. Photo taken 07/11/05.

U.S. 1 parts ways with U.S. 158 south of the Exit 218 partial "Y" interchange for its own freeway around Henderson. A short unnumbered connector allows Interstate 85 southbound drivers direct access to U.S. 1 for interests to Franklinton, Wake Forest, and Raleigh. Photo taken 07/11/05.
Exit 218 consists of a left-hand off-ramp to U.S. 1 on the east side of Henderson. U.S. 1 splits with a business loop along U.S. 158 west through the city at the first interchange south of Interstate 85. Photo taken 07/11/05.
