Interstate 75

Hernando and Pasco Counties - Southbound

A major interchange, the separation of Interstate 75 and Interstate 275 near Lutz also marks the separation of secret Florida 93 (via Interstate 275) and Florida 93A (via Interstate 75). The routes rejoin at Exit 228 near Palmetto. Interstate 275 provides the urban route through Tampa and St. Petersburg, with connections to Toll Florida 589/Veterans Expressway, Florida 60 west to Clearwater, and Interstate 375/Interstate 175 east to downtown St. Petersburg. Meanwhile, Interstate 75 becomes a bypass route with a control city of Naples in Southwest Florida. It connects to Interstate 4 (which heads east to Lakeland and Orlando) and Toll Florida 618/Leroy Selmon Crosstown Expressway. Photo taken 06/22/03.
A second diagrammatical sign is in use here, as southbound Interstate 75 approaches southbound Interstate 275 at Exit 274, one-half mile. The right two lanes transition onto Interstate 275, while the two left lanes continue south on Interstate 75. Both Interstate 75 and Interstate 275 add more lanes once they enter the more urbanized areas of Hillsborough County. Photo taken 06/22/03.
In the vicinity of the Interstate 75/Interstate 275 split, the freeway departs Pasco County and enters Hillsborough County. The actual county line is located just after these signs, right where the overpass is at in the distance (the overpass is County Line Road, which straddles Pasco and Hillsborough County). Use Interstate 275 to Tampa, Clearwater, and St. Petersburg; continue south on Interstate 75 to Brandon, Bradenton, Sarasota, Fort Myers, Naples, and Miami (South Florida). Photo taken 06/22/03.
