Displayed in this photograph are the non-reflective guide signs of the former Exit 92 and 91 off-ramps. Photo taken 01/96.
Original Exit 88 diagrammatical overhead at the Georgia 166 directional cloverleaf interchange. The former Lakewood Freeway was rechristened Langford Parkway in 1999. The east-west highway travels between Lakewood Avenue (just east of Interstate 75 & 85) through East Point (pop. 39,595) to Interstate 285. The alignment composes the middle portions of the never constructed Interstate 420 urban loop. This interchange is now signed as Exit 243. Photo taken 04/95.

After passing through downtown Macon, Interstate 75 reaches Exit 163, Mercer University Drive/Georgia 74 west. Georgia 74 reaches its eastern terminus at this interchange, as it does not continue any further east toward U.S. 129. Photo taken 01/18/04.
Unlike freeways in other parts of the state, Interstate 75 in Macon is lined with overhead lighting within the freeway median. In comparison, the city of Atlanta is completely devoid of any freeway lighting on any of the area freeways. The next exit is Junction Georgia 74 west and Mercer University Drive. Photo taken 01/18/04.
Mercer University Drive is old U.S. 80, and it leads west toward the Colonial Mall, then onward to Thomaston and Woodbury. Mercer University itself lies to the east of this interchange. The next exit is Exit 162, Junction U.S. 80/Georgia 22, Eisenhower Parkway. Photo taken 01/18/04.
U.S. 80, which used to provide a transcontinental link from east of Savannah all the way west to San Diego, California, meets Interstate 75 at Exit 162. Following Eisenhower Parkway and silent Georgia 22, U.S. 80 is a divided highway from west of Interstate 475 past Interstate 75 until meeting U.S. 129/Broadway south of downtown. Photo taken 01/18/04.
A planned four-lane corridor, called the Fall Line Freeway, is planned for the U.S. 80 corridor from Macon west to Columbus. Only a portion of the "freeway" (actually an expressway) has been constructed to date, and most of it is close to Columbus. Once completed, U.S. 80 would feature a four-lane connection from Interstate 16 and Interstate 75 to Columbus and Interstate 185. For more, visit High Priority Corridor 6.
