and Cartersville (pop. 15,925). Georgia 138 skims the southern metro between Fairburn (pop. 5,464) and Union City (pop. 11,621) eastward to Jonesboro (pop. 3,829), Stockbridge (pop. 9,853), and Conyers. | U.S. 278 & Georgia 12 overlap with Interstate 20 between Exits 75 (Lithonia) and 90 (Covington-Oxford). The former alignment of U.S. 278 consists of Old Covington Highway, Almon Road, and Old Atlanta Highway to the north of Interstate 20. An eastbound side frontage road continues into Newton County from Iris Road in Rockdale County. The Interstate 20 Frontage Road receives mileposts and is state-maintained.
