Florida 666 begins and follows 150th Avenue to Tom Stuart Causeway, a draw bridge linking Madeira Beach with Duhme Road (Pinellas County 321). A $76.9-million project is replacing the original spans with twin-span bascule bridges on the same alignment that will provide a great horizontal clearance to vessels below. The draw bridge portion of the causeway was rebuilt in 2006-07, replacing the original 1938 span. Opening of the new span (August 25, 2007) coincided with the removal of tolls along the causeway.
