Westbound - Florida 417 Toll to Interstate 4

Florida 528 Toll west
Florida 528 Toll leaves the Florida 417 Toll interchange and draws to within one mile of the Exit 13 diamond interchange with Florida 15 / Orange County 15 (Narcoosee Road). Florida 15 transitions into a county road south of the Beachline Expressway en route to East Park, Lake Nona, and northern Osceola County. Photo taken 11/18/03.
Florida 15 continues Narcoosee Road northwest to junction Florida 551 (Goldenrod Road) at Hoffner Avenue. The state highway follows Hoffner Avenue west to Conway and Conway Road north toward central Orlando. Florida 551 stems north from Florida 15 to Goldenrod in the eastern suburbs. Photo taken 11/18/03.
Drivers bound for Narcoosee Road depart Florida 528 Toll (Martin Andersen Beachline Expressway) westbound at Exit 13. Florida 15 meanders northward through the city of Orlando to junction U.S. 17 & 92 and Florida 50 at the intersection of Colonial Drive and Mills Avenue. At that point Florida 15 becomes the hidden state road counterpart to U.S. 17. Southward, Orange County 15 ends at junction U.S. 192 & 441 east of St. Cloud. Photo taken 11/18/03.
Next in line for westbound travelers is the Exit 12 partial-cloverleaf interchange with Goldenrod Road. Goldenrod Road originally ended at South Avenue south of Florida 15, but a new alignment ties the road directly into the Beachline Expressway at Exit 12. The north-south arterial has the unusual distinction of being a tolled facility, with booths midway between Florida 528 Toll and Lee Vista Boulevard. Photo taken 11/18/03.
Goldenrod Road represents a major north-south arterial through suburban east Orlando between Florida 528 Toll and Florida 426 (Aloma Avenue) at Goldenrod itself. The tolled section of the state road serves the commercial parks of Lee Vista Boulevard, an east-west road paralleling the Beachline Expressway from Florida 417 Toll west to Judge Road near Conway Road (Orange County 506). Photo taken 11/18/03.
South of Exit 12, Goldenrod Road becomes Heintzelman Road through the eastern reaches of Orlando International Airport and its associated industrial area. Heintzelman Road ends at the South Access Road interchange midway between the airport terminal and Boggy Creek Road. Photo taken 11/18/03.
Continuing west, Florida 528 Toll nears Orlando International Airport and its terminal. A directional-cloverleaf interchange facilitates the movements at Exit 11 between Airport Boulevard, Florida 436 (Semoran Boulevard) and the Beachline Expressway. Airport Boulevard transitions into Semoran Boulevard at Florida 528. Photo taken 11/18/03.

Construction in 2007 reconfigured the Airport interchange by eliminating the Exit 11B loop ramp onto Airport Boulevard southbound with a new directional ramp. All traffic bound for Florida 436 or the airport departs in unison at a renumbered Exit 11. This new Clearview panel replaces the separate panels for Exits 11A/B pictured above. Photo taken 02/02/08.
A two-lane ramp (Exit 11) now carries motorists bound for Orlando International Airport (MCO) and Florida 436 (Semoran Boulevard) north. Photo taken 02/02/08.
Florida 528 Toll reassurance shield posted between Exits 12 and 11. Photo taken 02/02/08.
What was Exit 11A now departs as Exit 11 from Florida 528 Toll westbound for the northbound beginning of Florida 436 (Semoran Boulevard). Semoran Boulevard, like Goldenrod Road to the east, constitutes a major north-south arterial through the Orlando eastern suburbs. Florida 436 overall travels in an arc around Orlando between the airport, Aloma, Casselberry, Altamonte Springs, Forest City, and Apopka. Photos taken 11/18/03 & 02/02/08.
Exit 11 splits into its respective ramps shortly. Florida 436 quickly intersects T.G. Lee Boulevard and Hazeltine National Drive in a growing commercial and business park district. Airport Boulevard south in conjunction with South Access Road and Boggy Creek Road provides a through route to the Florida 417 Toll corridor and northern Osceola County, for interests south of the Airport. Photo taken 02/02/08.
Travelers part ways for Florida 436 north and Airport Boulevard south. Airport Boulevard West in conjunction with Airport Boulevard East encircles the Orlando International Airport terminals. South Access Road ties into the loop from the south as a controlled access facility between the terminal and Boggy Creek Road. Boggy Creek Road continues the expressway south to the Central Florida Greeneway 1.5 miles north of Osceola County 530 (Boggy Creek Road). Photo taken 02/02/08.
Exit 11B used to consist of a loop ramp onto Airport Boulevard West south into the Orlando International Airport terminal area. Photos taken 11/18/03.

The second Beachline Expressway main line toll plaza awaits westbound drivers between Exit 11B and the Exit 9 partial-cloverleaf interchange with Conway Road north and Tradeport Drive south. Tradeport Drive serves western reaches of the airport between Florida 528 Toll and Boggy Creek Road. Conway Road ventures north from Tradeport Drive to Belle Isle and junction Orange County 506 (Judge Road). Photo taken 11/18/03.
An older style facility operates between Exits 11B and 9 on Florida 528 Toll. Sunpass account holders may use the inner most toll booth lane without coming to a complete stop while all other cash-paying drivers must stay to the right. Newer facilities in the OOCEA system feature high-speed Sunpass lanes. Photo taken 11/18/03.
McCoy Road (westbound) and Jetport Drive (eastbound) act as frontage roads for the Beachline Expressway between Semoran Boulevard and Exit 8. The road provide for the movements to/from the Beachline Expressway to north-south roads such as Boggy Creek Road, Florida 527 (Orange Avenue) and Daetwyler Drive. Boggy Creek Road enters the scene from the south and east, serving eastern reaches of Taft and industrial areas on the outskirts of Orlando International Airport. Photo taken 11/18/03.
Exit 8 comprises a direct ramp onto Florida 482 (McCoy Road) west ahead of its merge with Boggy Creek Road. Florida 482 begins here and travels west from McCoy Road onto Sand Lake Road west of junction Florida 527 (Orange Avenue). Sand Lake Road constitutes a busy east-west arterial between Belle Isle, Pine Castle, and the International Drive resort area. Photo taken 11/18/03.
Florida 482 west departs Florida 528 Toll west via Exit 8. McCoy Road intersects the south end of Florida 527 (Orange Avenue) in one half mile. Orange Avenue carries the state road northward into downtown Orlando. A vastly unsigned Orange County 527 follows Orange Avenue south to Taft and Meadow Woods. Florida 482 ends at its interchange with Interstate 4 near Dr. Phillips. Photo taken 11/18/03.
Four miles west, Florida 528 Toll next meets U.S. 17-92-441 (Orange Blossom Trail) and Florida's Turnpike at Landstreet Road (Exit 4). U.S. 17-92-441 follow the commercialized arterial Orange Blossom Trail (OBT) between central Orlando and Kissimmee in northern Osceola County. Florida's Turnpike sees a trumpet interchange connector (Exit 254) with the OBT adjacent to the Beachline Expressway. Therefore the Exit 4 loop ramp includes a tie-in with the trumpet ramps between U.S. 17-92-441 and Florida's Turnpike. Florida's Turnpike features just five overall Orlando area interchanges on its drive between Interstate 75 near Ocala and South Florida. Photo taken 11/18/03.
Exit 4 loops into the U.S. 17-92-441 (Orange Blossom Trail) trumpet interchange with the Exit 254 access-road to/from Florida's Turnpike. The ramp also features a connector to Landstreet Road for access to the OBT itself. U.S. 17-92-441 serves the Florida Mall area nearby in addition to south-central Orlando, Pine Castle, and Hunters Creek. Landstreet Road travels east-west between Exchange Drive nearby and the community of Taft. Photo taken 11/18/03.
An equally busy arterial to the OBT is John Young Parkway (Orange County 423). Florida 528 Toll sees a six-ramp partial-cloverleaf interchange with the vastly unsigned county road at Exit 3. Photo taken 11/18/03.
Exit 3 leaves Florida 528 Toll westbound for John Young Parkway (Orange County 423). John Young Parkway heads north from U.S. 192 (Vine Street) in Kissimmee to Hunters Creek, Oak Ridge, and other suburban communities outside of the Orlando city limits. The arterial becomes Florida 423 at Colonial Drive near Fairvilla en route to Lee Road east to Winter Park. Photo taken 11/18/03.
Florida 528 Toll levels out ahead of the International Drive resort area and the Exit 2 partial-cloverleaf interchange with Orangewood Boulevard south and Universal Boulevard north. Universal Boulevard ventures west to the Orange County Convention Center and north through the attractions area of International Drive to Universal Studios itself. Photo taken 11/18/03.
One half mile east of the Orangewood and Universal Boulevard off-ramp (Exit 2) on Florida 528 Toll west. Universal Boulevard was a relatively new addition to the older Orangewood Boulevard to the south. Orangewood Boulevard spurs south into the Williamsburg residential area, meeting Central Florida Parkway in one mile. Photo taken 11/18/03.
Florida 528 Toll (Beachline Expressway) westbound at the Exit 2 ramp departure to Orangewood Boulevard south and Universal Boulevard north. Use Universal Boulevard north as an alternate route for Universal Orlando's Wet N' Wild park and Oak Ridge Road. Photo taken 11/18/03.
The final Beachline Expressway main line interchange joins Florida 528 Toll with International Drive at the Exit 1 folded-diamond interchange. International Drive represents a north-south road and corridor built with resorts and hotels in mind. Known also as simply I-Drive, the roadway is home to a myriad of attractions, lodging establishments, and meeting places. Photo taken 11/18/03.
Motorists bound for the International Drive Resort Area depart Florida 528 Toll westbound. International Drive heads north toward the Orange County Convention Center and Universal Orlando. Southward I-Drive continues to Sea World, Lake Bryan, and Epcot Center Drive. Photo taken 11/18/03.
Florida 528 Toll nears its western terminus at junction Interstate 4. Interstate 4 represents the main freeway for the city of Orlando, the Walt Disney World resorts, Daytona Beach, and Tampa. The highway is also the only untolled limited access highway of the greater Orlando area. Therefore the road receives the bulk of the area through traffic interests, with roads such as the Beachline Expressway, Central Florida Greeneway, and the Western Beltway acting as feeders to it. Florida 528 Toll ends at Interstate 4 midway between downtown Orlando and Disney World. Photo taken 11/18/03.
A second diagrammatical overhead displays the ramp configuration for the unstacked directional interchange between Interstate 4 and Florida 528 Toll. Interstate 4 travels a in a north-south fashion through this stretch, next meeting Florida 482 (Sand Lake Road) to the north and Florida 535 (Vineland Road) to the south. A new overpass to the Orange County Convention Center passes overhead. Photo taken 11/18/03.
The carriageways of Florida 528 Toll widen and gain a stand of trees ahead of the ramp split to Interstate 4. Situated within the median is an Expressway Ends sign. Photo taken 11/18/03.
Two lanes default onto Interstate 4 westbound ahead of Disney World, Lakeland, and ultimately Tampa. Interstate 4 eastbound travelers head north ten miles to downtown Orlando. Photo taken 11/18/03.
