Daniel Webster Western Beltway - South

Florida 429 Toll south
Until December 2005, Florida 429 Toll ended at the Exit 19 diamond interchange with Orange County 535 (Winter Garden Vineland Road). Florida 429 Toll saw extension southward to U.S. 192 (Exit 6) at that time, with overall completion expected by December 2006. Pictured here is a temporary end sign posted four miles north of Exit 19 near Exit 23 with Florida 50 (West Colonial Drive). Photo taken 12/19/03.
Florida 50 (West Colonial Drive) comprises a busy east-west surface arterial throughout the entire Orlando metropolitan area. Locally the state road serves Winter Garden to the west and Ocoee to the east. Just south of Exit 23 (Florida 50) is the Exit 22 stack interchange with the Florida's Turnpike mainline. Florida's Turnpike cuts a swath from Oakland to Osceola County through greater Orlando. Photo taken 12/19/03.
A two-lane off-ramp departs Florida 429 Toll (Western Beltway) southbound for Florida's Turnpike. Florida's Turnpike travels west to Clermont in Lake County and Interstate 75 south of Ocala. The turnpike mainline continues southeast two miles to junction Florida 408 Toll (Holland East-West Expressway) for interests to downtown Orlando. Photo taken 12/19/03.
A large stack interchange with sweeping flyovers facilitates the movements between Florida 429 Toll (Daniel Webster Western Beltway) with Florida's Turnpike mainline. Florida's Turnpike links the Orlando area with West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and the Florida Keys via the south end at U.S. 1 in Homestead. Photo taken 12/19/03.
Florida 429 Toll (Western Beltway) bends westward from Florida's Turnpike and Beulah to junction Orange County 535 (Winter Garden Vineland Road) at Exit 19. Winter Garden Vineland Road travels south from downtown Winter Garden to Summerport and Lake Buena Vista. Photo taken 12/29/05.
Reaves Road enters the scene from Windermere Road to the west and splits to form the Stoneybrook Parkway East and West frontage road system of Florida 429 Toll. Stoneybrook Parkway West facilitates the movements to and from Orange County 535 via slip ramps. The parkway otherwise leaves the Western Beltway frontage for junction Orange County 545 (Avalon Road) at Marsh Road and Lake Avalon. Photo taken 12/29/05.
Looking back at the temporary end of Florida 429 Toll when all traffic was shunted onto the Exit 19 off-ramp for Orange County 535 (Winter Garden Vineland Road). Orange County 535 serves the Beulah and Tildenville areas of south Winter Garden to the north. Southward Winter Garden Vineland Road straddles the Lake Butler area en route to Lake Buena Vista and Orange County 535's transition into Florida 535. Photo taken 12/19/03.

Traveling through the high-speed lanes of the Independence main line toll plaza of Florida 429 Toll southbound. Toll plazas along the Western Beltway feature inner high-speed lanes for Sunpass and Epass account holders and outer lanes to conventional toll booths for cash paying customers. Photo taken 12/29/05.
The first of three planned Horizon West area interchanges joins Florida 429 Toll (Western Beltway) with New Independence Parkway (formerly McKinney Road). New Independence Parkway meanders east from the Western Beltway to the communities of Independence at Lakes Speer and Hancock. Horizon West will boast over 12,000 residential units upon completion. Southbound at the Exit 15 diamond interchange with New Independence Parkway. New Independence Parkway travels east-west between Orange County 545 (Avalon Road) and Ficquette Road. Use the parkway east to Schoolhouse Pond Road for the Village of Bridgewater community of Horizon West. Photo taken 12/29/05.
Low rolling hills occupy the landscape of extreme western Orange County and eastern Lake County. The undeveloped horizon will give way to widespread development associated with Horizon West. In the distance are the Porter Road and Orange County 545 (Avalon Road) under crossings. South of there is the planned Schofield Road partial-cloverleaf interchange (Exit 13). Schofield Road was built to serve New Horizon via Florida 429 Toll and Lake County. Construction of the interchange will take place between 2008 and 2012 depending upon demand. Photo taken 12/29/05.
The northern half of the Western Beltway is maintained by the Orlando-Orange County Expressway Authority; the southern half is maintained by Florida's Turnpike Authority. An end signs for the OOCEA exists within the Exit 11 diamond interchange with Seidel Road. The Seidel Road exit opened in Winter 2006 to serve the future Horizon West town center. Seidel Road stems east from nearby Orange County 545 (Avalon Road) to Lake Hancock Road at Huckleberry Lake. Photo taken 12/29/05.
The last mainline toll plaza of Florida 429 Toll (Western Beltway) south exists one mile south of the Exit 8 partial-cloverleaf interchange with Western Way. Exit 6 to U.S. 192 (Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway) leaves Florida 429 Toll one half mile south of the Orange Lake area toll plaza. U.S. 192 straddles the Osceola County line west to its end at U.S. 27 and Four Corners (the location where Orange, Lake, Polk, and Osceola Counties come together). Photo taken 12/29/05.
Barricades forced all drivers onto the Exit 6 off-ramp from Florida 429 Toll south. A diamond interchange facilitates the movements between the Western Beltway and U.S. 192 (Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway).
