John Young Parkway

Lee Road

John Young Parkway carries Osceola and Orange County 423 northward from U.S. 17-92-192 at Kissimmee to the East-West Expressway in Orlando and Florida 423 northward from Florida 408 Toll to U.S. 441 (Orange Blossom Trail). The County portion of roadway is only sparsely signed; the state road portion however is signed better, especially when Florida 423 follows Lee Road east of U.S. 441.

Florida 423 south
Florida 423 (Lee Road) begins at U.S. 17 & 92 in Winter Park and heads west 1.25 miles to junction Interstate 4. A truck bypass for U.S. 17 & 92 utilizes Lee Road west to Interstate 4 east and Florida 414 east. The bypass circumvents a low CSX railroad overpass in Winter Park. Photo taken 08/16/08.

The Lee Road interchange with Interstate 4 is busy during the commute hours and in need of an upgrade. Two left-hand turn lanes provide access to downtown via westbound. Photo taken 08/16/08.
Florida 423 west at the Interstate 4 eastbound on-ramp to Maitland, Sanford, and Daytona Beach. The arterial carries six overall lanes under the eight-lane freeway. Photo taken 08/16/08.

John Young Parkway northbound at the partial-cloverleaf interchange with Florida 417 Toll (Exit 10) in south Orange County. Orange County 423 pentagons appear on Central Florida Greeneway guide signs to John Young Parkway. The six-lane arterial otherwise serves the sprawling Hunters Creek subdivision nearby on its drive between Kissimmee and Orlando. Photo taken 01/13/04.
Scenes pertaining to John Young Parkway
L.B. McLeod Road eastbound at junction Orange County 423 (John Young Parkway) adjacent to its interchange with Interstate 4 (Exit 79). A new flyover was built in 2006 to carry Interstate 4 westbound drivers onto John Young Parkway north of the L.B. McLeod Road intersection. A junction Florida 423 remains in place despite John Young Parkway being designated as a county road south of Florida 50 (West Colonial Drive). Photo taken 07/29/06.
Large overheads partition drivers into lanes for John Young Parkway north to Clear Lake, L.B. McLeod Road east to Rio Grande Avenue, and Orange County 423 south into the diamond interchange with Interstate 4. Orange County 423 is signed for the most part only at its interchanges with Interstate 4 and Florida 408 Toll (East-West Expressway). Photo taken 01/13/04.
