A two lane east-west orientated highway linking U.S. 98/Escambia County 297 near Perdido Bay to Florida 295 and U.S. 90 in West Pensacola. At one point, Florida 298 continued west of the current terminus to the Alabama State Line. Florida 298A existed as well along present day U.S. 98 between the current western terminus and Florida 295/New Warrington Road. When Florida 30 was extended westward from downtown Pensacola over the now defunct Florida 294, it also overtook the Florida 298A and westernmost segment of Florida 298. Nowadays of course, Florida 30 is the hidden multiplex for U.S. 98.
