| The first southbound Florida 289 shield is posted at the intersection with Florida 290 (Olive Road). Just one half mile south on Florida 289 is the equally busy intersection with Florida 296. Florida 296 travels eastward along Bayou Boulevard to 12th Avenue and U.S. 90 (Cervantes Street) along the Bayou Texar. Florida 289 southbound at Fairfield Drive. The shield assembly is incorrect in that Florida 295 does not continue north to the left. Fairfield Drive however continues another three blocks to its merge with 12th Avenue just south of Florida 296 (Bayou Boulevard) and Summit Boulevard.
