A cross-state highway between U.S. 19 at Weeki Wachee and U.S. 1 near Titusville, Florida 50 links the Orlando area with Brooksville, Clermont, and the Space Coast. Colonial Drive through Orlando is a busy east-west arterial, as is Florida 50 between Weeki Wachee and Brooksville.
North Apopka-Vineland Road southbound at junction Florida 50 (West Colonial Drive) near Pine Hills and Orlo Vista. Florida 50 exists as a busy commercial arterial through this stretch. Additionally the state road carries traffic westward to Good Homes Road for Florida 408 Toll and the connection to South Apopka-Vineland Road. Florida 50A is essentially a business loop through the city of Brooksville in Hernando County. The state road shares pavement with U.S. 98 and U.S. 41 along the route.

A short section of Florida 700 emerges from its hidden overlaps with U.S. 98 in Brooksville between Florida 50A and U.S. 41 along Ponce De Leon Boulevard. Florida 700 merges onto U.S. 41 (Broad Street) south to Florida 50 east and a return to U.S. 98 south, all in a hidden fashion.
