|
| An older set of signs graces the Exit 1C sign bridge for
U.S. 98 Business east and the southern end of Interstate 110 (Florida 8A). The bannered route of U.S. 98
follows the original U.S. 98 pathway through the downtown area via Garden Street. This four lane tree lined
arterial continues westward to U.S. 98 & Florida 292 at Pace Boulevard. Business U.S. 98 eastbound follows
Chase Street eastbound underneath Interstate 110 ahead. Photo taken 12/06/03.
|
| New guide signs as of 2003 are posted at the Exit 1A & 1B
split at the Interstate 110 (Florida 8A) conclusion. A construction project between 2000-2001 widened the
Exit 1B ramp from one to two lanes to alleviate a bottleneck between Interstate 110 and the Chase Street
intersection with Ninth Avenue. Photo taken 12/06/03.

| Northern Terminus - Interstate 110/Ferry Pass
|
| Florida 8A northbound draws to a close at Interstate 10 (Florida 8)
north of the Pensacola city limits. The mainline of Interstate 110 northbound defaults onto
Interstate 10 westbound. A construction project is underway to upgrade the compact trumpet interchange at
the northern terminus of Interstate 110. Movements onto Interstate 10 eastbound and the nearby Exit 13
interchange with Florida 291 (Davis Highway) are the cause of traffic havoc because of the close proximity of
the two ramps. To augment this issue, a new flyover ramp will shuttle Interstate 110 northbound motorists
onto Interstate 10 eastbound independent of the Exit 13 traffic movements. A separate ramp will allow motorists
to access Florida 291 via a new collector/distributor roadway of Interstate 10 eastbound. Photo taken 12/20/03.
|
| As is the case with the advance sign bridge for Interstate 10,
the sign bridge at the departure for Exit 6 (Interstate 10 eastbound) is also temporarily removed. This
photograph reveals the original configuration of the tight trumpet interchange. Photo taken 11/26/99.
