Lee Street intersects Business Loops Interstate 40 & 85 at the Exit 41 diamond interchange within the eastern suburbs. The four-lane divided highway provides a direct route into central Greensboro, carrying the designation of North Carolina 6 west from the freeway. Photo taken 07/24/04.

Exit 41 departs Business Loops Interstate 40 west & 85 south for North Carolina 6 (East Lee Street) west. Lee Street east continues a short distance to Causey Lake Road and growing suburban tracts out toward Youngs Mill Road and junction Interstate 40 & 85. The two streets partition and parallel the Norfolk Southern Railroad line into the central business district. A large diagrammatical overhead advises drivers of the Business Loops Interstate 40 & 85 split at the interchange once known as "Death Valley". The substandard nature of the interchange coupled with a high accident rate was one of the reasons for the building of the Greensboro south bypass (Painter Boulevard). Interstate 40 & 85 previously split at Death Valley on their respective paths to Charlotte and Winston-Salem. Now the interchange serves more commuters and less through traffic. Photo taken 07/24/04.

Exit 34 joins Business Loop Interstate 85 & U.S. 29 south and 70 west with Holden Road. The partial-cloverleaf interchange is buffeted by a number of commercial and industrial buildings.
