| A large diagrammatical overhead advises drivers of the Business Loops Interstate 40 & 85 split at the interchange once known as "Death Valley". The substandard nature of the interchange coupled with a high accident rate was one of the reasons for the building of the Greensboro south bypass (Painter Boulevard). Interstate 40 & 85 previously split at Death Valley on their respective paths to Charlotte and Winston-Salem. Now the interchange serves more commuters and less through traffic.
