The first northbound Alabama 215 shield one sees after the state highway turns from 24th Street north onto University Boulevard east. Similar to downtown areas of Birmingham and Mobile, on-street parking slots are provided in Tuscaloosa. Photo taken 08/10/02.
Entrenched within the University of Alabama campus, Alabama
215 northbound sees this intersection at the University Quad. Home to the Crimson Tide, the University of
Alabama boasts 19,000+ students in a sprawling 1,000 acre campus. The road from the left is a loop serving an
array of halls and other facilities, while to the right is a residential area. Photo taken 08/10/02.
Continuing eastbound (northbound) by the Quad of the
University of Alabama, the rustic nature persists in splendor. This highway teems with college football
fans during Saturday home games in the fall. Alabamans tend to be fanatical when it comes to their support
of the Crimson Tide, and drive from all over the state to see the Tide play. Photo taken 08/10/02.
Northbound Alabama 215, still orientated in an east-west fashion, approaches U.S. 82 in this photograph. Unlike what most maps suggest, U.S. 82 is a freeway from Alabama 215 northward to Rice Mine Road on the northern banks of the Black Warrior River. Photo taken 08/10/02.
Therefore an interchange exists between U.S. 82 and Alabama 215. This folded cloverleaf interchange also features an array of button copy signage. In this photograph, Alabama 215 northbound intersects the eastbound on-ramp and off-ramps for U.S. 82. Photo taken 08/10/02.
Alabama 215 northbound at the U.S. 82 westbound related ramps. Traffic turning to the left will face exits with Campus Drive and Jack Warner Parkway before crossing the Black Warrior River. Alabama 215 continues eastward towards Alabama 216 on the outskirts of the city. Photo taken 08/10/02.
Alabama 215 south
Approaching the U.S. 82 interchange from Alabama 215 southbound (west). Interstate 20 and 59 are just two and a half miles south of this junction via U.S. 82. The large building to the left is that of DCH Regional Medical Center. Photo taken 08/10/02.
University Boulevard connector to U.S. 43/Alabama 69
University Boulevard westbound at U.S. 43/Alabama 69. One block separates 24th Street/Alabama 215 with U.S. 43/Alabama 69. Signage on the U.S./state route pair reflect University Boulevard as part of Alabama 215. Photo taken 08/10/02.
With the beginning of the U.S. 43/Alabama 69 Black Warrior River Bridge to the right, these junction shields face University Boulevard westbound traffic. The top shield does display U.S. 43, although it resembles charcoal more than a U.S. route. Photo taken 08/10/02.
Eastbound University Boulevard as it leaves U.S. 43/Alabama 69 into downtown Tuscalooa. Alabama 215 enters the picture from the right, turning eastward towards the University of Alabama Campus. Southwards, the state highway parallels U.S. 11 and Interstate 359 towards Taylorsville south of Interstate 20/59. Photo taken 08/10/02.
